I believe so many more women struggle with their self-worth and self-image than we even know. I had a conversation with a gal last night who is GORGEOUS and is in great shape and she told me that she NEVER wears shorts. Just won’t do it. Believe me when I say so many people would be doing cartwheels if they looked like she did!
When I was talking to her- I knew exactly how she felt! There have been times when I would not wear shorts either. There have been times I didn’t want to go to a cookout because of how I looked and felt about myself. Sometimes in our pursuit for our version of perfection we overlook all of our awesome qualities and focus only on the things we need to change. We forget that we are so much more than our body size. Me too- GUILTY!!
What I have found for me- it was a much deeper issue. For me, it goes way beyond the physical appearance. I have worked through a lot of deep rooted, self-limiting thoughts and beliefs. I have struggled to accept myself on all levels- am I a good enough wife, daughter, sister, friend, colleague, coach… It affected me so much that I would keep everything bottled up and to myself. Many of my close friends will probably describe me as guarded/stand offish. I just don’t share or open up very easily. Obviously there’s been a huge shift because 6 months ago I would never have shared this on social media!! Lol!!
Two years ago when I didn’t want to coach a weight loss program because I still had weight to lose and because I wasn’t ‘perfect’ – I had a great friend and mentor tell me–‘Kim, think of how many people you can help! Think of how many people would be thrilled to be your size? You have so much to offer.’
Imagine if I never heard that message?
Being able to help women break these barriers has been incredibly rewarding to me. I can’t even tell you how over the moon excited I get to see people transform their lives in such powerful ways. I am here to empower women to discover their inner warrior. It starts with health & nutrition and you should do it because you love your body- not because you hate your body. Know that YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH!! #breakingbarriers #breakthrough
