I am blessed because most folks in my life are fine with how I eat and what I choose to take in or not take in.
Occasionally I get a ribbing or teased – but for the most part everyone is super awesome and respectful of my choices. But in the beginning, it wasn’t always the case…
If you are in the beginning of your journey and you are trying to BE in a whole new way that you have never been before- people may be afraid for you to change. They may be afraid it will change your friendship in some way as you develop new interests. Maybe it’s because it brings to light changes they should make in their life, but they just aren’t ready yet.
From time to time you may run into friendly enemies who will try to coax you to eat or drink something that is not going to help you get to your goals.
‘Oh, come on- one won’t kill you.’
‘You sure you don’t want a drink? Have a drink’
‘Oh that’s right, you can’t eat that…..’
Sometimes, you may feel the pressure of going along with everyone else just because it’s easier. You may perceive a pressure to conform that isn’t even there!
Here’s what I remember when I’m in these situations:
When I’m eating well and working out I am a completely different person than when I’m not. When I am eat well and work out- I feel great! I have energy, I have confidence, I’m pleasant and more outgoing. I am less stressed and have an overall sense of peace and calm. Things just seem to roll off my back easier.
When I don’t eat well and workout my sleep starts to tank, I get crabby and agitated. I feel lazy and fidgety both at the same time. It’s harder for me to enjoy social situations. My body starts to bloat and I can’t think clearly.
It’s not about weight loss anymore. It’s all about how I feel- because how I feel affects everything else in my life.
Do I want to feel great? Or do I want to feel like garbage? It’s a choice. It’s always a choice.
When you find yourself in these situations- I hope you remember this and I hope it helps you the way it helps me. Because, yeah, sometimes it does seem easier to just go along. But easy doesn’t get you to your goals. In the beginning you will need to work at it but eventually it becomes the norm. #bestrong #yougotthis
