Magnesium is one mineral that is definitely in my supplement rotation!
It’s a nutrient that you need because it’s important for many processes in the body- yet 60% of U.S. adults are deficient in it.
Common warning signs of magnesium deficiency are:
- Ringing in the ears
- Muscle cramps or spasms
- abnormal heart function
- kidney stones
Since I’ve added this in I notice I get less muscle cramps, my sleep has improved and I feel less anxious.

- Lowers risk of diabetes
- Relieves stress (depression, anxiety)
- Reduces muscle tension (restless legs, cramps)
If you are over 30 years old- you should be taking in about 320- 420 mg per day. While I find supplementation a simple solution to ensure that I get the proper amounts, you can also use a magnesium oil or lotion that will absorb through the skin or take epsom salt baths.
To get more magnesium in your diet try incorporating these foods that are rich in magnesium:
- Pumpkin seeds
- Black Beans
- Dark Chocolate
